Marrakesh on foot
After our bike tour we continued siteseeing on foot. We walked through the main square, which apparently is a chaotic cacophony of sensory overload at night (we will check it out Saturday night), and more alleyway markets.
We caught glimpses of the southern horizon, which is lined by snow-capped mountains. Hmm. We are heading into the mountains next week…
The buildings in Marrakech are almost all the same colour red. Apparently it is a city ordinance that all buildings have to be painted the same colour (Marrakech is apparently known as the red city).
We found the Earth Cafe, a vegan/vegetarian restaurant, and stopped in for lunch. I found my dish tasty but a little oily. Angela didn’t fancy hers. While there, we met a couple of guys (one Belgian and the other Romanian) visiting Morocco from Barcelona, and had a good chin wag.
With all the exercise, fresh air and sun, we were pretty beat, and when it started to rain, that pretty much defeated our desire to attend Vespers. So, to bed instead for an early night, and off to church tomorrow.
Early – ha! It still amazes me that supper time in our travels so far is 8-9 pm! No wonder the streets are empty first thing in the morning!
