Please feel free to connect with us. If we see the same question often enough, we’ll add it here.
- What’s a twonie?
-
Twonie (or toonie) is the nickname for Canada’s $2 coin, first circulated in 1996.
- Why just a twonie?
-
Two dollars a month doesn’t sound like much. However, if we can get enough people donating just $2 a month, we will receive enough money to be able to make a noticeable impact in many locations. Of course, we are grateful for one-time donations, and any amount you choose to donate will be put to good use.
- All donations go straight to projects? How do you eat?
-
Michael has a pension from his career in the Royal Canadian Navy. Angela was disciplined enough to save during her career as a real estate developer. All of our personal costs (food, accommodations, fuel, insurance, maintenance, shipping etc) are covered through these means. This is how we can ensure that 100% of all donations will go to projects.
- How are the administration costs being paid?
-
We pay for all admin-related costs out of our own pockets.
- How can I donate?
-
Under the “I Want To Help” menu option choose whether you are Canadian or from elsewhere. Then, you can choose to make either a one-time donation or a recurring donation.
- What sort of projects can my donation possibly fund?
-
On its own, your twonie won’t do much. But, partnered with a few other donated twonies, many things are possible!
Examples of past projects include:
– $40 for a brake job on a pickup truck
– $5 for some PVC pipe and adhesive to replace a split water line
– $20 for wood to build a bookcase
– $120 to replace a leaking propane stove
– $40 for materials to cover windows with screens
– $5 to have an electrician rewire power for water pump
– $150 for an air conditioning unit to chill a food storage area
– $300 to replace batteries in a solar lighting system
