Sister Christian Motor Inn

Day 2: Natural Bridge – Fancy Gap (325 km)

Today started off rather promising – warm air, clear skies. We quickly rejoined the BRP, and continued enjoying the fall colours. At one point we had a wonderful view from above of a thick blanket of clouds.

Sadly, it was not to last. As our elevation changed, we found ourselves once again riding in fog. At times, it was light, with rays of sunlight streaming through. At times, it was “second gear” fog.

Near the end of our day, we got some intel on a nearby town that had modelled part of itself after Mayberry. So, we headed down Andy Griffith Parkway to check it out. It wasn’t all that impressive, but we were able to get an early dinner.

En route to the hotel, Michael had a great idea – if he were to open a motel, he’d call it the Sister Christian Motor Inn. Yeah, he had a lot of idle brain time today.

We finished the day just north of Fancy Gap, much earlier than last night. So, time to sit back and watch the election results unfold.
