Ancient ruins of Volubilis
On Monday we decided to visit Volubilis, a truly ancient city. This site was occupied in one form or another from 200 BC to 1400 AD. Sitting at the edge of the Roman empire, the Triumphant Arch was built 1800 years ago, and it still stands! The city was fairly wealthy in part because it produced olive oil. There was a full-scale model of an olive oil press on site, as well as some preserved/restored mosaics.
We stopped next at Meknes for a bite to eat outside the main city gate.
Returning to Fes for our last night, Angela did a little souvenir shopping, and then off to bed for some sleep before our departure on Tuesday.
