Finally some warmth

Thursday dawned another beautiful day. We took a short walk into the desert to stretch our legs, see the dunes and collect some sand. Then it was back on the road. With the temperature a comfortable 25°C and the sun shining in a clear blue sky, today is the first day that Angela wasn’t cold.

We rode from Merzouga through Erfoud to Errachidia. We wanted to stop near Erfoud to see the Orion Constellation, Stairway to Heaven and the Golden Spiral, three art installations in the desert, but they are 10 km off the road, and neither of us felt there was a high chance of success with that endeavour, so we carried on to our destination.

What a disappointment. We found our Airbnb 13 km from Errachidia in the middle of nowhere, and frankly it was a bit of a hole. After politely touring the accommodation, we left to eat lunch, and while eating decided to find another location to sleep. It wasn’t too hard – we found a tired 4 star hotel just down the road. Clean sheets, hot water, and all the other amenities you’d expect. Sold!
