Involuntary blood donation – definitely not irie!
It was such a long night! The wildlife was very active, with the insects, birds and other creatures of the night contributing to the nocturnal symphony.
We particularly enjoyed the pack of wolves (it sounded like wolves, but Angela though they could have been coyotes) as they howled together, possibly celebrating a kill? It was cool to listen to, but it was also just one more interruption, which resulted in a rather poor night’s rest.
On the plus side, we were up nice and early. We were packed and on the road by 8:15, which was the earliest departure of the whole trip.
The road. Ugh. Today was a pretty dull day for riding. Lots of straight roads at high speed. We had three curves, two of which were back to back. Talk about snoresville.
We did arrive in Homestead, FL early enough to get to the Everglades Alligator Farm, where we were able to go on an airboat ride, watch some alligators get fed, and actually hold a juvenile alligator!
The evening rounded out nicely with dinner at a Jamaican restaurant, where both Angela and Shevaun refused to finish the spicy slaw (more for me!), and ended with Angela counting my bug bites. She stopped at 400. And they didn’t even give me a cookie or some juice! Ugh, I’m feeling woozy…
