A bizarre museum and disappointed by science
Oh boy, was it cold last night! We were tucked deep in our sleeping bags, but that wasn’t quite enough, so I unzipped mine and draped it like a blanket over Angela and me, and we huddled as close as we could get to keep warm.
Fortunately, the day started to warm with the rising of the sun, and before long we were off. We connected with our friends, Randy and Shevaun (who are paralleling us for the first half of this trip) in Wilmington to check out the Museum of the Bizarre.
This is truly a bizarre museum, with an unusual collection of items which may leave you wondering how many are authentic and how many are added for entertainment purposes. There we several movie props and replicas from movies like Hellraiser, Army of the Dead and Friday the 13th. The hour-long visit was easily worth the $3 admission fee. Perhaps the best part was the mirror maze – the $2 upcharge was good value. The laser maze wasn’t working, so we couldn’t try it.
Our next stop was the Wonderworks Science Center in Myrtle Beach. There were a few neat exhibits, but several were broken, but overall we determined that we did not get value for our time/money here. It might have seemed better if we were going through it with kids.
So far, we are doing well with the Honda. It’s underpowered compared with the V-Strom, but not a total wimp. The new suspension seems to need some adjusting – the sag is almost the same as the stock suspension.
We ended the day setting up our tent at Myrtle Beach State Park, sharing the site with Randy and Shevaun. By the time everyone was set up, it was too late to do much but pack it in and get some sleep.
