Preparations for moving
We recently received the news we had been waiting for – after three years in Norfolk, Virginia, we are set to return to Victoria, British Columbia! We are excited to be getting back home. Victoria is where we will stage out of for our big trip.
As part of our preparations, we sold “The Beast”. When Angela bought her V-Strom in 2016, it was such a large, unwieldly machine compared with her CBR 600RR that she called it “The Beast”. Six years, 23,000 km and several camping trips later, she loves the riding position and the V-Strom itself. She sold “The Beast” today to make room for the bikes we will take on our trip.
Meanwhile, we received a top box for the Honda. It’s the Touratech Zega Evo XXL. It is 72 L! Oh, I can here you all telling me that this is too big! The plan is to ride with the box virtually empty, and to use it to securely store my helmet, jacket and pants whenever we stop and want to walk around. The box has been christened with its first sticker. We’re real ADVers now!
We’ve been making preparations for a three week loop through the southeast US. However, the upgraded suspension we ordered for the Honda was not the right one, so we had to send it back and get a new one sent out. The new suspension arrived the day before we were set to leave, so I was in the garage late Saturday night installing it. Hopefully there are no issues!
