The course gives the graduate student a basic understanding of the role of specialties involved, the procedures, and timing of interventions in the management of craniofacial patients from birth to adulthood. The oral cavity also offers an ideal model to study biological structures and cellular mechanisms important throughout the body and important in immune response. The periodontology program is designed to prepare dentists to enter the clinical practice of periodontics or to work in academics and research.
